Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources Holds the Closing Ceremony for Summer Training 2019

14 August, 2019

On Thursday morning, Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources held three closing ceremonies for Summer Training 2019 for school and university students. The first ceremony was held at the Directorate’s branch in Al Dafin. The celebrations included honouring trainees in Sharjah. The second ceremony was held at the Directorate branch in Khor Fakkan and included honouring trainees in Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al Hisn. The third ceremony was held at the Directorate’s branch in Kalba and included honouring trainees in the entities and institutions of Kalba city. The ceremonies were held in the presence of the directors of the departments, officials and employees of the Directorate and its branches, students and trainees and their families.
During the ceremonies, presentations were made showing details of the training received by the students at the headquarters of the entities, departments and institutions in the Emirate, including examples of jobs and assignments entrusted to the students.
The Programme was launched in mid-July during the current summer vacation for four consecutive weeks with the participation of (312) students from the tenth to the twelfth grade, and students of universities and colleges of various specialisations, from the Emirate of Sharjah and its Central and Eastern regions.
The Directorate coordinated with the partners in the Programme, including authorities, institutions and departments of the Government of Sharjah, which received the students and provided training opportunities for them in all of their job sectors. The students have been distributed over the authorities taking into consideration several criteria, mainly the requirements of their specialisations, the need of the entity offering the training opportunity, and the extent to which the opportunity responds to the students’ desires and places of residence, as each student shall receive the training at the Directorate’s branch that is the closest to his/her area of residence.
This year, the number of entities, institutions and departments cooperating in the Programme reached 30 government entities, namely: Directorate of Human Resources, Sharjah International Airport Authority, Department of Economic Development, Department of Culture, Department of Seaports and Customs, Social Services Department, Islamic Affairs Department, Central Finance Department, Information Department, E-Government Department, Suburbs and Villages Affairs Department, Department of Municipal Affairs, Agriculture and Livestock, Environment and Natural Reserves Authority, Roads and Transport Authority, Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, Sharjah Municipality, Al Hamriyah Municipality, Maliha Municipality, Sharjah Heritage Institute, Sharjah Media Council, Sharjah Book Authority, Free Zone Authority, Safety and Prevention Authority, Women's Sports Foundation, Sharjah Maritime Museum, Sharjah Youth, Qur'an and Sunnah Department, Real Estate Registration Department, and Family Development Centres.
Every year, the Directorate is keen to organise the Summer Training for students in order to empower and support young Emirati cadres and implement its policy, seeking to localise competencies and activate their leadership role in the State. By training them, the Emirate aims to fill the free time of the students with what is beneficial to them and to their community, and to develop their intellectual abilities and refine their personalities through contact with work environments, in addition to developing their sense of responsibility, providing them with the expertise and skills that help them in the future to engage in work. The training is an ideal opportunity to enhance the students’ self-confidence, allow them to develop a preliminary perception of the appropriate academic orientation, prepare them to join the world of jobs and business, provide them with a great amount of professional knowledge, and teach them about the work environment in a realistic manner.
During the training, students have showed commitment and keenness to acquire knowledge, and to benefit from the expertise offered to them through this experience. They expressed their pleasure and gratitude for what they gained from participating in the Programme.
